He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Sampson and Nona Sampson (Shelton); and his siblings, Richard "Dick" Sampson and Marian Daniels. He is survived by: his wife Mary Wiggers; his children, Valerie Sanborn, Carol McEvoy and Robin Sampson; and his brother Jack Sampson.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Center.
