He was predeceased by : his parents, Loran Nixon and Frances Elizabeth Cornwell (Denman); his wife Rhea Ann Appenzeller of Mackinaw; and his brothers, Bruce and Rodney Cornwell (Sandra).

He is survived by : his sisters, Carole Lieving (Larry) and Susan Langwith (Dennis); his children, Kent William, Keith Loran Cornwell (Kim) of Mackinaw and Mary Frances Garza (C.) of Edinburg, Texas; his grandchildren, Chad William Cornwell (Gina), Manuel James Garza (Lillian), Brian Michael Garza (Stella), Lauren Anne Cornwell, Emily Mae Cornwell and Jacob Matthew Garza; his great grandchildren, Nolan James Cornwell, Manuel James Garza Junior, Paityn Marie Garza and Rose Jasmine Garza; and his parents-in-law, Clarence and Mary Etta Appenzeller (Walker).
