He was predeceased by: his wife Berniece; his children, Karen Standley (Tom) and Darrell Busse; and his siblings, Evelyn Koplin (Don) and Darlene Busse.

He is survived by: his son Daniel Busse (Beth); his grandchildren, David Busse, Joey Busse and Michael Busse; and his sister Cathy Busse.
