He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Chapman and Dorothy Chapman (LeGrand); and his son-in-law Shane Oakley. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Thomas; his children, Tonya Oakley, Autumn Chapman, Leeza Edersheim (Andrew), Justin Bassett, Alana Uptmor and Nichole Martin; and his siblings, Darrell Chapman (Chris), Dana Chapman (Sunday) and Diane Stoltey (Terry). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
