She was predeceased by: her parents, William Stilling and Ottila Stilling (Hiller); her husband Paul R. Brefeld; her siblings, Rosemary Babcock, Maurice, Roger and William G. Stilling; and her parents-in-law, Paul J. and Kathryn Brefeld.
She is survived by: her children, Paul G. Brefeld of Chicago Heights, Rebecca Beck of Racine, Annette Mavec (Ken) of Crystal Lake and Thomas Brefeld (Donna) of Dearborn, MI; her grandchildren, Alyssa Barber (Zack), Courtney Cappell (Kyle), Hannah Brefeld, Thomas Brefeld, Jr., Lindsay Barber (Adam), Michael Beck and Jacqueline Mavec; her great grandchild Charlotte Barber; and her sisters, Patricia Busch (Leon), Nancy McGee (John) and Judith Huff (John).
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, N. Richmond Rd. Memorials may be made in Joanne's name to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1401 N. Richmond Rd., McHenry, IL 60050.
