He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Smith and Esther Smith (Norlin); his brothers, Lon and Paul; and his son Lon David Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Maria; his brother Leo (Louis) of Arkdale; his children, Sheila Sartin (Tom) of McHenry, Wayne P. Smith of Johnsburg, Daniel Smith (Liz) of McHenry and Diane Flicek (Jeff) of McHenry; his stepchildren, Juanita Browne of Chicago, Terrance Browne (Joey) of McHenry and Anthony Browne (Julie) of Arlington Heights; and his granddaughter Serena Brettschneider (Don).
In accordance with public gatherings restrictions, attendees are expected to wear a mask and observe social distancing.
In lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated to the Fish Food Pantry or to the family for a headstone.
