She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgil Pate and Nellie Pate (Sheppard); and her daughter Debie McIntosh. She is survived by: her husband William T. Smith; her daughters, Danita "DeeDee" Ortery of Monmouth, IL and Paula Schaumleffel (Sam) of Roseville, IL; and her grandchildren, Jodi Slater (Damon), Alicia Ortery (Nick) of Berwick, IL and Kenny Helms of Monmouth, IL. She is also survived by 3 sisters; 1 brother and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the Virginia Smith Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
