She was predeceased by : her parents, Virgil Scales and Frances Scales (Keneipp); her sisters, Virginia Ann Scales, Deloris Thomas and Faylene Youngman; her nieces, Nancy Carr and Sue Downey; and her great-niece Maura Repprecht.

She is survived by : her siblings, Jorita Rugen and Mike Scales; and her nieces and nephews, John Youngman (Theresa), JoAnn Hauck (Edward), Molly Rupprecht (Daniel), William Thomas (Laura), James Thomas (Margaret Balmes), Susan Murphy, David Rugen (Katherine), Michael Rugen (Julie) and Sandra Ahnafield (Jeff).
