He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Martha; his children, Deborah Alvarado (Randy), Richard Schmitz, Jr., Michael (Jessica Kielma), Paul Schmitz (Vera) and Scott Schmitz; his grandchildren, Madelyn, Christopher and Samuel Alvarado; and his sisters, Mary C. Schmitz, Diane Rusniak (Pat), Karen Batchelor and Paula Waliczek (Frank).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Church (15050 Wolf Rd, Orland Park, IL 60467). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
