He was predeceased by: his parents, John Chen and Lydia Chen; and his sister Gloria Hsu. He is survived by: his wife Rose; his children, Caroline Chen and Jonathan Chen (Catherine Barsoum); his grandchildren, Sylvie Chen and Gabriel Chen; and his siblings, Deanna Mah (Sam), Thomas Chen and Roland Chen.
