He is survived by : his children, Walter Helwich (Georgene), Hildegard Elget (Ralph), Martin Helwich (Suzanne), Colleen Anderson (Matt), Adam Helwich (Angie), Eric Elget, Patrick Elget and David Helwich; and his great grandchildren, George, Lavinia, Charles and Martin Helwich.
