He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph G. Gliwa, Sr. and Marie Gliwa; and his brother Richard Gliwa. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Gliwa; his daughters, Tracey Banville and Jo Ann Gliwa (Kenn Brotman); his grandchildren, Christoper Banville (Kacie), William Gliwa (Grecia), Lane Banville (Regan), Emily Stone and Griffen Pschigoda; his great grandchildren, Eli, Hayden, Emma and Lillian; his sister Lorraine Topor (late Joseph); and his sister-in-law Joni Gliwa.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home (201 N Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL 60067). A prayer will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 9:30 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Thomas of Villanova Church (1201 E Anderson Dr, Palatine, IL 60074). A burial will be held on Friday, July 25th 2025 at the St Adalbert Catholic Cemetery (6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714).
Joe's contributions to high school athletics were recognized with numerous honors.
