He was predeceased by : his brothers, Mark of Granville and Gary of Apple Valley, California.. He is survived by : his wife Connie McMahon; his son Mark (Bridget); and his siblings, Craig Kassabaum of Peoria, Patti Shimmin (David) of Normal, Sherry Hastings (Ralph) of Bryan, Kurt Kassabaum of Granville, Carole Terando (Ernest) of Granville and Blane Kassabaum (Melissa) of Granville. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 15th 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Norberg Memorial Home, Inc. (701 E Thompson St, Princeton, IL 61356). A mass was held on Saturday, January 16th 2021 at 1:00 PM at the St. Louis Catholic Church - Princeton (616 S Gosse Blvd, Princeton, IL 61356). A graveside service was held on Saturday, January 16th 2021 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Elm Lawn Cemetery N Knox (Princeton, IL 61356).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Princeton Public Library, the Bureau County Genealogical Society and St. Louis Catholic Church of Princeton, IL.
