He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles McCarty and Bernadine McCarty (Kolar); his stepmother Wanda McCarty; his brother Raymond McCarty; his grandson Mackenzy S. Mundy; and his parents-in-law, Harold and Lois Cray.

He is survived by : his wife Marcia of Springfield; his children, Stephanie Mundy (Scott) of Waterloo, IL and Kyle McCarty of Springfield; and his grandchildren, Zachary and Addison Hanusek.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. John's Hospice.
