He is survived by: his spouse Ramona Barney; his daughter Julie Miller; his son-in-law Chris Miller; his son Gerry Schaafsma; his daughter-in-law Kathy Schaafsma; his son Jim; his daughter-in-law Jennifer Schaafsma; his son Paul Schaafsma; and his grandchildren, Karin Miller (Joshua Gross), Sarah Dunifon (Jeff), Tyler Schaafsma, Graham Schaafsma, Genna Schaafsma, Jake Schaafsma, Emma Schoenbeck (Andrew), Hannah Schaafsma, Ryan Schaafsma and Ava Schaafsma.
