He was predeceased by : his parents, Paul F. Hertel, Sr. and Miriam Hertel (Hotz); his son Scott Hertel; and his sister Kathy Haring. He is survived by : his wife Sonia J. Cole; his children, Jeff (Stacie) of Ballwin, MO, Greg (Kristy) of Salem, IL, Chris (Nicki) of Cincinnati, OH and Lauri Hoffee of Salem, IL; his daughter-in-law Alicia Hertel of Centralia, IL.; and his siblings, Bill Hertel (Donna) of Arlington, TX, Gary (Rosemary) of New Jersey and Eileene Howerton (Les) of Staunton, IL.. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
