He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Susan (Douglass); his sons, James and John; his daughter-in-law Debbie (Colby); his grandchildren, Linnea and Colin; his parents, Swedish and David; his brothers, George and William; and his mother-in-law Ruth (Bernard).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marty's name can be made to North Park University Athletic Fund, Augustana College Athletic Fund, North Park Covenant Church, or Park Ridge Community Church.
