We are sad to announce that on January 11, 2021 we had to say goodbye to John Wayne Mayes of Springfield, Illinois, born in Auburn, Illinois. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family. You may also light a candle in honor of John Wayne Mayes.

He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Elmer Mayes and Ethel G. Miller Mayes; his wife Velma Viele; his children, Carl Mayes (Linda) of Springfield, James Mayes (Karen) of Glendora, CA and Carlene Hippen (Jack) of Alton, IL; his grandchildren, Angela Mayes Murphy (Andy), Lisa Mayes, Gina Miyazaki (Takuya) and Buddy Hippen; and his great grandchildren, Liam and Layla. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19th 2021 at 4:00 PM at the Butler Funeral Home-Springfield (900 S 6th St, Springfield, IL 62703).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, 57 Country Place, Springfield, IL 62703.
