He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbur Thompson and Sharon Garrison (Lauher); and his sister Robin Garrison of Springfield. He is survived by: his wife Joy Thompson of Springfield; his son Eric Thompson of Springfield; his sisters, Kristine White of Springfield and Lori Van Heis of California; and his uncle Alan Lauher of Tovey. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
