He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandfather Barry; his parents, Melvin Deist and Verna Deist (Kruse) of Staunton, IL; his sister Joyce Opel (Jim) of Protem, MO.; his wife Nancy Deist (Ohlerich) of Staunton, IL; his children, Greg Deist (Fabiana) of Lanesville, IN, Phil Deist (Lynne Miller) of Glen Carbon, IL and Barbara Obert (Ken) of Springfield, IL; and his grandchildren, Emma Deist, Aidan Deist, Kaylee Obert, Eleanor Obert and Gabrielle Obert.
