He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, George Harmsen and Grace Harmsen (Schilling); his sister Ruth; his wife Norma Jean Bollmann; his children, Bruce Harmsen (Kim), Susan Kiehna (Marc) and Brenda Heinzmann (Jim); his grandchildren, Lauren Kiehna, Whitney Heinzmann, Megan Smith and Adrian Harmsen; and his great grandchildren, Henry and Norah Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to the Steeleville American Legion Baseball Program, Hospice of Southern Illinois or the Alzheimers's Association.
