Gary L. Durling Obituary
With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Gary L. Durling of Sterling, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Gary left this world on September 29, 2025 at the age of 79, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Anita Durling (Schaefer); his sisters, Gloria Gnarro and Normandie Dishman; his in-laws, Ruth and Jack O'Neill; his brother-in-law Dan Kisiel; and his nephews, Vincent Kisiel, Mitch, Mark and Steve Gnarro.
He is survived by: his father Harold Durling; his wife Ruth O'Neill; his daughters, Rebecca Eberle (Jeff) and Elizabeth Remrey (Tyson); his grandchildren, Lily Remrey, Adam Eberle, Iyla Remrey and Elly Remrey; and his sister Darlene Durling (Michael Lintz). He is also survived by several sister and brother in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home (1002 12th Ave, Rock Falls, IL 61071). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (2224 Ave J, Sterling, IL 61081).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Rock Falls American Legion Post 902, Sacred Heart Parish, Sterling, IL, or to Tunnels to Tower.
