With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Barbara L. Shafer of Sycamore, Illinois, born in Mount Vernon, Illinois, who passed away on August 7, 2020 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Bert Helverson and Marie Helverson (Murdach); her sister Mary Lou Overbey; and her nephew Christopher Helverson. She is survived by: her spouse Rowland C. Shafer; her daughters, Susan Dunlop of Sycamore and Brenda Suhayda (Bill) of Sugar Grove, Illinois; her grandchildren, Stephanie Evans (Brian) of Montgomery, Brett Suhayda (Joanna) of Sugar Grove, Kelly Land (Zach) of Pensacola, Emily Dunlop, Andrew Thompson of Lake Forest and Sara Zins (Eric) of Fulda, Minnesota; and her brother Carl Helverson (Marilyn) of Mount Vernon, Illinois.. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
