He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben B. and Emma C.; his son Steven Surmeier; his brothers, Robert and Ralph Surmeier; and his nephew Darrell Surmeier.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his daughter Karen Kirchner (Andrew) of Nashville, IL; his grandchildren, Becky Palko (Michael) of Edwardsville, IL, Cindy McDonald (Beau) of Houston, TX, Allison Kirchner of Clayton, MO, Joe Kirchner of Lexington, KY and Haley Surmeier Lilley of Chester, IL; his sister-in-law Eileen Surmeier; and his nieces, Lynn McCammon (Dave), Shelly Comley (Mike) and Sara Rockaway (Jim). He is also survived by numerous great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, cousins.
COVID-19 restrictions will be followed, face coverings required, and social distancing, with a limited number of visitors in the church at any time.
