With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Hursel Lee King Jr. of Vergennes, Illinois, who passed away on February 22, 2025 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his mother Betty Lucille King (Taylor). He is survived by: his father Hursel Lee, Sr.; his wife Ann O'Connor; his children, Hursel Lee Barrett King, III (Heather) of Ste. Genevieve and Betty Jo Melby (Benjamin) of Elkville; his grandchildren, Logan King, Gavin Roberts, Brandon King, Mylee Roberts, Levi King and Clinton King; his sisters, Sondra Tuthill (Richard) of Vergennes and Cheryal Jones (Steve) of Murphysboro; and his cousins, Gene Reed King of Perryville Mo and Mark King of Dexter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to Elverado Booster Club, 514 S. 6th St, Elkville, IL 62932, because of Hursel's deep love of sports; and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, because of Hursel's compassion to help others.
