She was predeceased by : her parents, Edwin Roy and Mona Louise Flesher Ehmke; and her son James Michael Short. She is survived by : her former life partners, James McDonald Short and Carroll K. Klingel; her husband Leo J. Ancelet; her children, Steven E. Short (Jean), Edward C. Short (Linda), Sally L. Dowling (Wayne) and Mary E. Hammen (Dennis); her daughter-in-law Loretta Short; her stepchildren, Bonnie Hemann (Dennis), Carolyn Holloway (Dave), Patty Phillips (Paul), Gloria Dadant (Nick) and Ronald Ancelet (Nancy); and her sisters-in-law, Margaret Ehmke and Betty Ehmke. She is also survived by 10 step-grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Chaddock Children's Home in Quincy, or EveryStep Hospice in Mount Pleasant.
