He was predeceased by : his wife Irene Eckert; his parents, Alfred Knapp and Bertha Knapp; his sister Jean; his brother-in-law Charles Taphorn; his sister Sharon; and his siblings-in-law, Edwin Stephens, Elmer Eckert (Sherri) and Virginia Gutierrez.

He is survived by : his children, Cathy Kasson (Richard) of Waterloo, Debbie Dressel of Belleville, Donna Daniel (Jim) of Fenton and Donald Knapp (Nancy) of Belleville; his grandchildren, Nicholas Dressel of Dallas, Christopher Kasson of Waterloo, Jimmy Daniel (Jennifer) of Columbus, Tyler Daniel (Jessica) of High Ridge, Alexander Knapp (Cassie) of McPherson and Allison Knapp of Belleville; his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Dominic, Andrew Dressel and Brynlee Daniel; his nephews, Manuel Gutierrez (Donna), Ricky Chappell (Debbie) and Thomas Taphorn; and his cousin Susan Janik (Joe).
