He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Stimson and Hazel Stimson (Phillips); and his sisters, Ruth Bovenmyer (late Leon) and Dorothy Sherman (late Bill). He is survived by: his wife Janet Thornton; his children, Doug Stimson (Jun), Tom Stimson, Scott Thornton (Christine) and Laurie Dodich (Peter); his grandchildren, Allen Stimson, Joel Dodich, David Dodich, Julia Dodich, Jake Thornton and Hannah Thornton; and his brothers, Lloyd Stimson (late Dorothy) and Harry Stimson (Kim).
