We bid farewell to Douglas Arnold Pekkarinen of Waukegan, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on October 16, 2025 at the age of 83. Douglas touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Olaf Pekkarinen and Catherine Pekkarinen; his brother Peter (Linda); his in-laws, Joseph and Genevieve Miks; his brother-in-law Joseph Miks; his uncle Albert "Bud"; and his aunt Mabel Blaha.

He is survived by: his wife JoAnne; his children, Joseph, James (Becky), Jeanine (Adam), Jonathan and Jason (Kristina); his grandchildren, Jenna, Ethan, Jake, Savannah and Dylan; his brothers, Michael (Beatrice) and Patrick (Andrea); and his sister-in-law Evelyn Miks. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Peterson and Patch Funeral Home (408 N Sheridan Rd, Waukegan, IL 60085). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St Anastasia Catholic Church (Little Flower Parish) (624 Douglas Ave, Waukegan, IL 60085).
