He was loved and cherished by many people including: his close friend Mae Frances; his wife Mae Frances Edwards; his parents, Charles Edwards and Mary Edwards; his parents-in-law, James and Nelda Ferguson; his brother Charles Edwards; his siblings-in-law, Lawanda Stephenson, George Ferguson and Debra Hoy; his daughter-in-law Brenda Ferguson; his children, James Edwards, Lane Ferguson (Delillian), Jackie Cooper (Robert), Mary Edwards, Ralph Edwards and Cheritta Edwards; his grandchildren, Quinnesha Wyche, Auriel Wyche, Deonte Wyche, Brenda Ferguson, Lane Ferguson Jr., Makala Ferguson and Beautiful Wade; his great grandchildren, Sariya Cotton, Amelia Ferguson and Rishon Travers; his cousin Loretta Powell; his siblings-in-law, James Ferguson Jr., Gene Hoy, Noradene Dollen (Michael) and Patricia Callahan; and his friends, Rev. Gerald Mayhan, William McCoy, William Carrington, Ron Carrington, Ralph of Washington, Larry Craighead and Ellis Bryson. He was also cherished by children and grandchildren.
