He was predeceased by: his parents, George K. Jr. Hughes and Adelaide Hughes; and his brother Charles Hughes. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Buddenhagen; his children, Ruadhán, Karolena and Alex Hughes; his sisters, Jean Fitzpatrick and Dorothy Kraus (Jerry); and his sister-in-law Katherine Hughes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
