He was predeceased by: his parents, Max Hellmann and Margaret Hellmann; and his brothers, Harry, Eric, Alvin and Wally.
He is survived by: his wife Paula Stade; his children, Robert Hellmann (Lauri), Debra Dearborn (Rob), Donna Leitner (Craig) and Tom Hellmann; his grandchildren, Christina Bracero, Tara Loszach, Andrea Millea, Danielle Jaeger, Hope Hellmann, Alaina Hellmann, Amanda Hellmann, Max Hellmann and James Hellmann; his great grandchildren, Jasmine, Julian Bracero, Phoenix, Jewel Hellmann, Cassian Millea, Reese, Jack Jaeger, Joshua and Chloe Loszach; and his sister Mildred Felbinger.
