She was predeceased by : her parents, Lonnie Buchanan and Rosie Buchanan (Hill); her son Melvin; and her siblings, Rowland Hill, R. C. Johnson, Cleo Buchanan, Robert Buchanan, Sr. and Ruby Givens.

She is survived by : her siblings, Lovie Geater (Hubert) of North Chicago, IL and Joe Buchanan (Sadie) of Beach Park, IL.. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
