It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Philemon Chavis (Butler, Indiana), born in Greensboro, North Carolina, who passed away on August 20, 2018, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by : his former life partner Brenda Chavis; his children, Kimberly Chavis of Lincoln Park, Philemon Chavis Jr. of Attica and Daniel Chavis of Diamond Lake; his daughter-in-law Mary Chavis of Diamond Lake; his son Matthew Chavis of Waterloo; his daughter-in-law Carrie Chavis of Waterloo; his son Joseph Chavis of Lexington; his daughter-in-law Tatiana Chavis of Lexington; his grandchildren, Malachi Chavis, Shianne Chavis, Samantha Chavis, Derek Chavis, Kristen Krause, Darrian Krause, Ashley Chavis, Abigail Chavis, Ellianna Chavis, Levi Chavis, Nadia Chavis and Aiden Chavis; his great grandchildren, Kai, Jhin, Owen and Atticus; his sisters, Deborah Sanchez of Phoenix and Gloria Mroz of Ann Arbor; his brother-in-law Tony Mroz of Ann Arbor; his brother David Chavis of Markle; and his sister-in-law Genie Chavis of Markle.
