He is survived by: his children, Herschel Smith and Amanda Smith of Carlisle, Indiana; his grandson Jeramiah Smith of Carlisle; and his siblings, Barbara Elliott of Vincennes and John W. Smith of Carlisle, Indiana.. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
