He was predeceased by: his parents, James McDowell and June Hargrave McDowell; and his sister Debra McDowell. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Mattox McDowell; his children, Zachary McDowell (Jessica) of Terre Haute, Eric McDowell of Clinton, James McDowell III of Clinton and Joanie McDowell of Clinton; his stepdaughters, Angel Mattox of Terre Haute, IN and Amber Armstrong (Daniel); his siblings, Sandra Snyder of Universal, Carol Davitto of Clinton, IN, Myra Higgs of Ingleside, TX, Evelyn Clark, Robert McDowell (West), Ed McDowell (Lorri) of Universal, IN and Jeff McDowell (Denise); and his siblings' child Per. He is also survived by Several Grandchildren and great grandchildren.
