With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Helmke (Columbia City, Indiana), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 23, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Shirley Ann departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Shirley Ann may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Shirley Ann leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ray Taylor Harding and Anna Harding (Bobay); her husband Howard Erwin Helmke; her son Alan Helmke; and her siblings, Richard, Kenneth Harding, Gloria Brown and Patricia Ivins.
She is survived by: her children, Gregory L. Helmke (Judy Ashby) of Columbia City, LuAnn Unrue of Indianapolis, Dawn M. Cory of Columbia City and Rebecca L. Chapman (Jeffry) of Greenfield. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
