It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doris A. Barkes of Columbus, Indiana, born in Decatur, Indiana, who passed away on September 12, 2021, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Estal Wayne and Icis Lenora Fourman Adams; her former husband Max L. Barkes; and her siblings, James Wayne Adams and Lois Lambert.

She is survived by: her daughters, Brenda Ann Barkes of Columbus and Linda Susan Barkes of Columbus; her nieces, Karen Lambert of Columbus and Cheri Reeves (Keith) of Columbus; and her husband Sermon.

Memorial contributions may be made to East Columbus United Methodist Church or the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
