He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry A. Hale and Vernita Fern Miller Hale; his wife Virginia "Ginny" Foltz; his daughter Cindy Stafford Baldwin; and his brothers, W. J. Stafford and Sam Stafford.
He is survived by: his daughter Rita Montgomery (Gary) of Columbus, Ohio; and his grandsons, Jason Montgomery (Jaimee) of Montgomery, Joel Montgomery (Andrea) of Columbus, Justin Montgomery (Amy) of Westerville, Joshua Montgomery of Mount Vernon, Alex Lee of Woodstock and Andy Lee of Marietta, Georgia. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
