With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rita Marie Cavaness of Columbus, Indiana, born in Shelbyville, Indiana, who passed away on December 2, 2020 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman Jeffries and Velma Jeffries (Gilles); her son William H. "Bill" Cavaness; her brothers, Robert A. Jeffries and David Jeffries; her granddaughter Katie Ernstes; and her son-in-law Ben Ernstes.
She is survived by: her daughters, Dawn McIntyre (Jerry) of Columbus, Theresa Ernstes of Shelbyville, Elizabeth Brown (Ken) of Indianapolis and Barbara McPherson (Bill) of Shelbyville; and her grandchildren, Trey Ernstes (Jennifer), Shelly Reeves (Skylar), Laci Lawson (Kristopher), Kenny Meal, Kris Meal, Kylee Meredith (Karl), Justin Marshall (Casey) and Zachary Marshall. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
