He was predeceased by: his parents, William Garrett and Mary Garrett; his wife Sharon D. Garrett; and his siblings, Oliver Garrett, Sam Garrett and Mildred Hubbard.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Regina Griffith of Columbus, Kevin Griffith (Staci) of Columbus and Kimberly Foster of Columbus; and his stepgrandchildren, Alexandria Griffith, Danielle Griffith and Noah Griffith.
