He was predeceased by: his parents, Oakley Holmes and Alta Holmes (Grebe); and his siblings, Claire, Joray and Betty.

He is survived by: his wife Helen; his children, Steve (Barbara), Mary Jane and John (Susan); and his sister Peggy. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
