He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Yates and Annie Yates; his sister Martha Noble; his nephew Charles Yates; his brother Robert Lee; his sister-in-law Joann Yates; and his stepson Greg Trostle.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Yates; his sister Linda Spencer (Dennis); his child Jesse Yates (Pennie); and his stepchildren, Ronnie Trostle (Robin) and Marcia Gregg (Mike). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration.
