He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Rutledge and Mary Keeney Rutledge; and his siblings, Marvin Rutledge, Leroy Rutledge, Francis Eugene Rutledge, Edna Mae Wolfe, Dorothy Atkinson, Marie Higgins and Ruth Adams.
He is survived by: his wife Rosalie Schulmeister; his children, Suzanne Whicker (Dave), John Wayne Rutledge (Barb) and David Joe Rutledge (Sheryl); and his grandchildren, Tim, Steve, Doug Whicker, Jessica Rutledge Smith and Brittany Rutledge. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren as well as multiple nieces, nephews and great nieces & great nephews.
