He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Hankla and Opal Hankla; his siblings, Juanita Mays, Martha Warr and Amos Hankla; and his grandson Levi Thomas.

He is survived by: his daughter Charlotte Hankla; his grandchildren, Scott Hankla (Cristi), Rebecca Rogers (Brad), Tamara Gulley (Michael) and Cynthia Thomas (Kenneth); his great grandchildren, Calvin MyGrants, Adeline MyGrants, Ensley Litke, Julia, Jenna, James, John Mehok, Madelyn, Emma, Jack, Luke Gulley, Casen, Trey, Ayden and Elle Graham; and his siblings, Rev. Joe Hankla, Harold Dean Hankla, Richard Hankla (Joyce) and Betsie Stokes.
