He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Thomas and Mary Lucille Garner Shatto; his spouse Opal Jane Lancaster; his son Larry Thomas Shatto; and his brother William Shatto.

He is survived by: his children, Gary Deveryle Shatto of Elizabethtown and Linda Robertson (Fred) of Columbus; his grandchildren, Keri Scutter, Jamie, Jessie, Krista Shatto and Caitlin Robertson; and his sister Judith Tatum (Bill) of Indianapolis. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
