He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Swartzell and Dorothy Swartzell (Van Pelt); and his daughter Sara Smith. He is survived by: his wife Linda L. Canen; his children, Sondra Deferbrache, Nanette Frazeur, Bryan Canen and Lisa Rice; his aunt Lois Torok; his brother Joe Sutherland (Barb); and his pet Nibbles. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren.
