He was predeceased by: his parents, Edmund Nickel and Edna Nickel; his former wives, Ada Nickel and Ruth Nickel; his brother Rev. David Nickel; and his grandson Colin Hendrie.
He is survived by: his wife Christine Bess; his children, Naomi Hilfinger (James), Kimberly Gallagher (John), Thomas Nickel (Stacey) and Sarah Myers (Tim); his grandchildren, Adam, Taylor Greene, Maggie, Megan Gallagher, Hilary Ross (Rob), Shelby Sipes (Chris), Faith Nickel, Ted and Charlotte Myers; his great grandchildren, Winston, Montgomery, Henrietta, Kennedy and Harrison; his siblings, Rev. Timothy Nickel (Marguerite) and Julia Baker (Allan); and his sister-in-law Joyce Nickel. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
