He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil "Chick" and Mabel Haines (Johnson); his wife Doris Haines; his daughters, Sandy Shell and Kathy Haines; and his brother Edgar "Rocky" Haines.

He is survived by: his sons, James Haines (Kimberly Kaye) of Brownstown, IN and Ron Haines. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
