With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Marilyn Jean Vela of Elkhart, Indiana, who passed away on January 20, 2022 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Smeltzer and Erma Smeltzer (Bloss); and her husband Jesus Vela. She is survived by: her children, Deb Thomas (Larry), Linda Carroll, Cindy Carroll, Joe Vela, Ann Vela, Jerry Vela and Natalie Vela. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be given to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
